Diary | 2020-11-13 00:00:00: Velocity-area measurement station; 68m wide completely contained river section. This is the lowest flow gauge in the Corrib catchment. The site is impacted by the tide, however flows here are estimated for the fluvial component only. Control at the station is tidal but reverts to natural flow at low tide. Galway Barrage is located upstream of the station which results in fluctuations to the natural river flow when gates are operated. The gauge was originally installed downstream of Wolfe tone Bridge, in September 1992 it was relocated to a position upstream of the Bridge, in February 2007 there was a minor relocation to another position upstream of the bridge, and in March 2009 it was relocated to its current position downstream of the bridge. Water is very turbulent at this location and as such the logger data presents a large variation in level. |
